Jessica Berlin is a German and American political commentator and innovation strategist. A transatlantic affairs and geopolitics expert, she specializes in the nexus between security and development, economic drivers of democratic and autocratic transitions, and cultural-historical drivers of political and social change.
Berlin is the founder of the strategy advisory CoStruct; Vice Chairman of the Board of fintech company OroboPay; an Advisory Board member at the Paris-based think tank Europa Nova, and a Global Governance Futures Fellow of the Robert Bosch Foundation. Her career has spanned four continents working with the German and US governments, civil society, and the private sector in countries across the spectrum of dictatorship to democracy and poverty to prosperity. She has advised governments, foundations, investment funds, NGOs, and sustainable tech companies. From working with villagers in Afghanistan and Rwanda to startups in Germany, Kenya, and Myanmar; from climate NGOs to the Obama Pentagon; from Chinese expansion in Africa to EU engagement in Iran, her global experience and perspective encompass the issues of our time.
A frequent speaker and panelist, Berlin is noted for her ability to break down complex issues quickly and clearly, enliven debates, and connect with audiences. She holds an M.Sc. in Political Economy of Emerging Markets from King's College London, a B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University, and speaks five languages.
